1987 1 oz American Silver Eagle .999 GEM BU (Brilliant Uncirculated)

The 1987 American Silver Eagle is a popular backdated issue and a more difficult date to locate. As a scarcer date, they are especially desirable among collectors. The coins being offered by Monument Metals are beautiful Gem Uncirculated pieces with strong luster, a perfect strike, outstanding eye appeal and virtually immaculate surfaces. These high-quality specimens are perfect for those assembling complete sets of Silver Eagles or those wishing to commemorate the year 1987.

About the American Silver Eagle Series

The American Silver Eagle (often abbreviated as “ASE” or “SAE”) is the primary silver bullion coin of the United States. It was first introduced in 1986 and has been produced continuously since. In total over 400 million pieces have been struck. It has a weight of one (1) troy ounce and a purity of .999 fine silver. In addition to the standard Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) version, the American Silver Eagle has also been produced in Proof, Burnished and Enhanced “Triple Finish” formats too. It carries a government-backed official face value of $1.

Where Silver Eagles Are Made

Although standard bullion edition Silver Eagles do not display a mintmark, they are typically struck at the United States Mint at West Point NY. Due to heightened demand, some American Silver Eagles were struck at the San Francisco Mint between 2011 and 2014. The San Francisco coins look identical to their West Point counterparts.

How the American Silver Eagle is Packaged

American Silver Eagles are shipped from the United States Mint in 500-coin sealed green monster boxes. Each box contains 25 individual tubes containing 20 Silver Eagles. Monument Metals ships 500-coin orders of American Silver Eagles in sealed 500-coin monster boxes. Quantities of 20 pieces are shipped in original US Mint tubes/rolls. Quantities under 20 pieces are shipped in vinyl flips.
