Marked MADE IN HONG KONG with in the moving hilt (Butt end of handle)
The retraction works by adding pressure to the bade and pushing it backwards towards the handle.
The handle then absorbs the view of the blade with in, While visually extending the length of the handle out the butt end. (See last Picture)
This is a compound effect...There are inner springs that both absorb the length of the blade and extend the butt end of the handle at the same time.
There is a V shaped Crack or Break on the butt end of the extending handle (See pictures) Does not seem to effect function of the mechanism within the knife.
NOTE: The chrome color wear on the blade...Likely from the friction of the blade retracting in to the handle over time. Along with play / use wear.
The dangers of play that this knife would bring to today's toy industry would not be allowed (by far) The blade is somewhat flexible However to rigid to be safe for child play.
