They illustrate the life of the controversial French queen Isabeau of Bavaria, who was accused of incest, adultery and sorcery.

Felix Labisse (1905 - 1982) was a French Surrealist painter, Theatre designer, writer and Illustrator. He was a friend and collaborator of Max Ernst, Paul Delvaux, James Ensor and Salvador Dali.
His work is held in Public collections in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Brazil and the USA.
