A leaf from a Missal, "Massale Romanum" printed in Venice by Nicollò Pezzana in 1676, on fine paper, in Latin (210 x 140 mm.). Common subject material for this Venetian Printer included Canon Law, The Catholic Church, Marriage and Pope Gregory, IX. Pezzana also held a keen interest in the sciences as in 1686 he printed a rare first edition of a treatise on fire, characterized as "backward" by Thorndike, but which has received no consideration since the modern revival of interest in Jesuit science. Text and letterpress music printed in red and black. This leaf is the Mass for The Common of Saints, and more specifically, THe Vigil on The Eve of an Apostle. It includes a lovely Historiated Inital as well as the Gospel of John 15, 12-16 . "At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, This is my commandment to you, that you will love one another as I have loved you." The Verso verso <="" font="">
