This is a leaf of early printing from a Biblia Latina. This leaf consists of ; Third Epistle of John Chapter 5, The Book of Jude, and the introduction to Revelations. The Third Epistle of John, often referred to as Third John and written 3 John or III John, is the antepenultimate book of the New Testament and attributed to John the Evangelist, traditionally thought to be the author of the Gospel of John and the other two epistles of John. It was printed at Lyons by Joannis Crispini in 1539. This is a close copy of Jacques and Jean Mareschal's Lyons Bibles of 1525. It is also closely related to Jacob Sacon's Bibles. Crispini, originally of the French/ Netherlands province of Artois printed for a time in Lyons before fleeing religious persecution and opening a press in Geneva in 1548. He died of the plague in 1572. The leaf measures 340 x 240 mm. in totality and contains 70-lines of gothic type printed double column in Latin with 4-line historiated letters beginning each chapter. The verso contains the same amount of lines, type & layout. (Fairfax Murray 36, Not in Darlow & Moule) This leaf contains staining.
