Das Tele-Apotessar 4/350mm T* zeichnet sich durch eine für das Mittelformat hohe Anfangsöffnung und seine ausgezeichnete Abbildungsleistung aus. So wurden beispielsweise die chromatischen Abbildungsfehler durch Verwendung von Gläsern mit anomaler Teildispersion drastisch reduziert. Da selbstverständlich auch alle weiteren Abbildungsfehler, wie sphärische Aberration, Astigmatismus und Bildfeldwölbung, auf unkritische Werte korrigiert sind, liefert das Carl Zeiss Tele-Aopotessar T* 4/350 Aufnahmen von höchst eindrucksvollem Kontrast und Auflösungsvermögen.
Ein weiterer Vorzug des Objektives ist seine Naheinstellgrenze von nur 1,90 Meter; eine Besonderheit bei Objektiven dieser Brennweite (Zeiss hier sehr bescheiden, die Nahgrenze ist sensationell mit 1,90 Meter bei einem solchen Objektiv...). Da zur Scharfeinstellung eine Innenfokussierung verwendet wird, tritt hierbei keine merkliche Verlagerung des Schwerpunktes des Objektivs auf.

The Tele-Apotessar 4/350mm T* offers a maximum aprture of f/4 with an excellent performance. It's remarkable optical design incorporates for example several optical glasses with anomalous partial dispersion, which permits a reduction of chromatic aberrations to a negligible small values. Since also all other aberrations such as spherical aberration, astigmatism and field curvature are highly corrected, the Carl Zeiss Tele-Apotessar 4/350mm T* insures images with excellent contrast and high resolution.
Another remarkable feature of the lens is the possibility to focus the lens down to 1,90 metres (very modest by Zeiss: A close focusing range of 1,90 metres is sensational in such a lens...). Since an internal focusing system is incorporated in the lens, no remarkable change of mass appears.


By preset of the focusing ring, you can preselect two distance ranges, for faster automatic focusing in the corresponding range: 1,90 to 5 metres and 3 metres to Infinity.
