Aloe dichotoma - The Kokerboom or Quiver Tree You are bidding for a pack of 5 seeds. This is one of the giants of the Aloe world, growing up to 9 metres or more tall with a similar spread. Individual plants have been reliably dated to over 300 years old. The Kokerboom is so named because the this is the San word for quiver and the indigenous tribes used the hollowed out stems of this 'tree' to make quivers for their arrows. The English common name, Quiver tree, obviously has the same origin.Although called a tree it is in reality one of the largest monocotyledon's and is more closely related to Lilies (it was once classified in the same family) than any type of true tree. The Latin name dichotoma means branching and it easy to see this in the adult plants . The plant may flower in 20 years from seed in it's natural state, but in the far better conditions it will find in cultivation, this is likely to happen much more quickly. The flowers look like those of red hot pokers (unsurprising as they are from the same family), they are either yellow or orange-red, depending on the locality.

PAYMENT DESCRIPTION |
I accept PayPal, Cheque or Postal Order. If bidding on more than one item please email me for a combined postage quote as this may save you money. International customers please pay by PayPal. If paying by PayPal please combine multiple orders together into one payment. |
Postage & Handling |
International customers - streamlined postage for all seed orders I will now only be charging two rates for postage for all orders of seeds REGARDLESS of the number of packs bought.
Once these rates roll out across my listings, I will once more 'trust' the automated check out process, to make things simpler These new rates reflects the fact that I use PayPal postage for all my orders and these are the rates I need to charge to use this service This should allow me to dispatch your orders more rapidly than before as I will not need to visit the Post Office for the majority of the orders, normally inside 24 hours - although at busy times this may take a little longer |
