This is a very rare pair of carved feet from a chest or desk. These beautiful carved eagles are in very good condition and probably date to about 1830 or earlier. The carving is superb, and the wings are dovetailed in place on the beck, held in place with early square nails.

We were told that these came from a ship many years ago, there were no other details given. These measure 14.25" wide, 5.5" deep, and 7.25" tall(not counting the height of the tenons.) These are hefty- they weigh about 5 pounds each. There are traces of old varnish, and lots of patina.
