Full Title Reads:

"The Christian's New and Compleat Family Bible; or Universal Library of Divine Knowledge. Containing the Sacred Texts of the Old and New Testaments, with the Apocrypha, at Large. Illustrated with Annotations and Commentaries, in which the most difficult passages are Rendered Clear and Familiar; the seeming Contradictions removed; the Mis-Translations Rectified; Important Truths confirmed; and Deism and Infidelity fully confuted. Together with notes, historical, chronological, geographical, theological, moral, systematical, practical, admonitory, divine and explanatory. Forming a complete treasury of Divine Revelation, wherein the Sacred Oracles of Truth are fully and amply displayed and illustrated, and the whole of the Sacred Writings rendered so clear and familiar as to confute the Infidel, dispel the Mists of darkness, enlighten the ignorant, encourage the diffident, reclaim the Vicious, reconcile the doubtful, lead the Wavering into the Paths of Truth, and implant in the Mind of every Christian, that Divine Knowledge which is essentially necessary to Salvation. To Which is added, at the end of each Book a Summary of the Doctrine contained therein, forming a compleat explanation of the various Books of the Old and New Testaments

As a farther illustration to the whole, A General Index, or concordance, clearly pointing out every material transaction recorded in the Sacred Writings. A Chronological index of transactions from Adam to the time of our Blessed Saviour. A Geographical Index of places mentioned in the Holy Scriptures. A full explanation of the proper names in the scriptures, with their Significations etc. A brief account of the Apostles and their successors, who propagated the Christian Religion, by presiding over the Apostolic Churches of Antioch, Jerusalem etc.

The Whole Forming a Compleat Body of Christian Divinity, Explained in such a Manner, as to guide the Reader through the Paths of Virtue and Happiness in this World, and lead him to the Mansions of Eternal Bliss in that which is to Come."

Size Elephant Folio, 15" tall. Recent reverse calf binding of brown calf with six raised bands to the spine and gilt titles on black morocco label in the second compartment.

Condition very good externally, new end papers.

The pages of text and the engravings are generally clean with a little foxing, a really nice complete Bible.

Complete with the Books of the Aporcypha, numerous notes and commentary throughout, General Index - Concordance, Indexes and List of Subscribers at the rear.

With 78 pages (2 missing) of plates - 4 engravings to each page - throughout, a lovely Bible for pleasure and or study. Very large and heavy.
