Antique  1790-1820 Violin Saxony Influenced Germany (1764 Simpertus Niggell Fussen) -  Story Please Read!

We are offering this beautiful 18th Century German violin from a shop customer.

We will be adding a sound video in the future. Here is the interesting story:

" This is Elma Wiley, my great aunt's violin. She was  1st Concert Mistress for the Cleveland Symphony in the 1920's. There is some drama concerning it's maker, as the label was stolen sometime in the 1920's, when it was in for repairs. Her aunt sued the Columbus, Ohio shop and won, but the label was long gone.

She purchased the violin from Paul Rodet, NY. The man she purchased the violin from said it was made by Joseph Klotz inthe 1760's, but the label inside stated "Simpertus Niggell, Lauten-und Geigen Macher in Fuffen 1764" . Aunt Elma was under the impression it was made by Niggell, although Klotz was equally as good a violin maker in the 1700's."

Our International stringed instrument expert recently took a look. We were told that it was made 1790-1820 and influenced by the Saxony area of Germany. German School.
