Description
A pair of wine coasters with scrolled edges and floral and leaf designs. Hardwood bases with center buttons. They appear to be Old Sheffield Plate with edge strips around the rims to cover the layers. Good sized examples able to take bottles or decanters to about 12cm diameter. No marks founds for identifying the maker. Date around 1830 (Regency Period).
Condition
Some wear through to the copper particularly at the high points as you would expect. Some pitting, but relatively controlled. Wood is well worn and aged with discolouration, could be refinished, but currently adds to the true antique look the pair have. Base felt very worn, but does seem to be original which is nice.
