Attack 1/72 Tatra T-97 Staff Car Model Kit 20 mm Scale
Ref : ATK72811 Brand new and unbuilt. The Tatra Type 97 was a Czechoslovakian mid-class saloon car manufactured by Tatra between 1936 and 1939. It was designed as a smaller alternative to the larger T-87 and was powered by a 1.8 litre flat four engine capable of 81 miles per hour. The simplified design included using just two headlights, a single-piece windscreen and a smaller body. Design similarities to the VW Beetle may not be coincidental. Ferdinand Porsche's Beetle design shared many similarities to the Tatra T-97. Tatra sued Porsche who were willing to settle. However Hitler cancelled this saying he would "settle the matter". The lawsuit was dropped when Germany invaded Czechoslovakia and production of the T-97 was immediatly stopped. After the war, Tatra reopened the lawsuit against VW who settled in 1961 when they paid Tatra 3m DM. Whether for wargaming or just building for display this brand new kit is a classic. Not to be missed.
