Probably made in Poland, it is a miniature rosary and case issued in commemoration of one of the Papal Visits of Pope John Paul II to the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in that country. The rosary extends to 13 1/2” long and the beads are miniature pearlized glass, with the center medal depicting Our Lady of Czestochowa, and with the papal coat of arms insignia on the reverse. Also note the pilgrim's staff crucifix of Pope John Paul II, 1 1/2” long in solid cast pewter. There is a tiny 3/8” long four-way saints medal attached behind the Our Father bead of the 1st decade (see photo #6). The rosary comes, just as I received it, in a beautiful carry case of gilded fine brass with the top lid in Mother of Pearl with etched trefoil cross on its center, and the interior lined in wine-red velvet. The box measures1 1/4” square, 1/2” thick, with good working snap-shut clasp. Both the rosary and case are graded in Extremely Fine to Near Mint condition.
