This is a beautiful and genuine original antique Cabinet Card photograph of the legendary "Wildmen of Borneo". Taken during the 1880's by the legendary Charles Eisenmann in his Bowery studio, the picture is in very good vintage condition with only some normal expected minor wear. Great emulsion and a lovely sepia tone. This photograph measures approximately 4 ¼ x 6 ½ inches. Much legend surrounds these two unusual so-called “Midget” Performers. Their names alone inspire legend and fodder for conversation. Most accounts state that the brothers were mentally retarded (“challenged” in pc language) but were nonetheless able to perform mind boggling feats of strength. One cannot help but wonder why, if these two were indeed as astronomically powerful as is claimed, are there no photos showing them performing any feats strength? Perhaps such images exist. But we have not seen them. All these two ever seem to do is stand around pretending to look aggressive. In any event, we find this picture to be one of the nicest of the famed duo. The “Wildmen of Borneo” were Sideshow royalty. They were among the Celebrated Freaks such as Jo-Jo the Russian Dog Faced Man, Lionel the Lion Faced Boy, Zip the "What-Is-It" Pinhead, Tom Thumb, Lavinia warren, Major Mite, the whimsical “Magri Brothers”, "Bearded Lady" Annie Jones, "Legless" Eli Bowen, “Siamese Twins” Chang & Eng, Millie & Christine” and other historic marvels.
