This listing is for a stunning item from ROLEX, perhaps the world’s best known name in luxury high end watch making. This is a SOLID GOLD 1970 Nine Carat TUDOR men’s dress watch which at 32mms diameter (not including the crown) is an elegant fit for the finer gentleman’s wrist. Sporting a rare SUNBURST engine turned BEZEL and extraordinarily SLIM at 4.5mms in depth, this 1970 model was one of the first to use the new SHIELD LOGO which replaced the Rose logo around this time.
Utterly
MINIMALIST and supremely elegant, this is a classic wrist watch for the
discerning collector and is perfectly versatile to suit a variety of
environments from Black Tie dinner parties to more casual occasions. It looks
just as good with a woolly jumper as it does in a high end suit. It comes
presented on a BRAND NEW lovely quality 18mm Chestnut Brown leather strap and is in full working order, keeping very
good time. With no recent service history available we recommend this be
serviced soon in order to maintain good function and protect your investment.
It will be sent in a non Rolex watch box for safe delivery. Don’t miss it!
The Tudor Brand
The Tudor
brand emerged as Rolex attempted to satisfy the demand for lower priced, but
still high quality, luxury wristwatches in the immediate post-war years. With
rationing and austerity including an outright ban on the import of gold for
jewellery purposes into the UK, the company realised that profits could be made
by offering a reliable product, with the same pedigree and all the patented
features that had made Rolex such a commercial success in the inter-war period,
for a less expensive price. The resulting watches were of a very high grade, to
the extent that in many instances, the disparity between them and their
equivalents in “full” Rolex form was very little indeed. Today, vintage Tudors
are very much sought after in their own right by the Rolex collecting
fraternity.
The Dial
The dial is signed for TUDOR at the top and shows a GOLD EMBOSSED Tudor SHEILD logo above. Under the hands it says SHOCK RESISTING. At the very bottom it
says SWISS.
There is no
other text or clutter present – this minimalist piece is very much in the ‘less
is more’ category of refined and elegant time pieces. The design, build quality
and materials all speak for themselves.
The GOLD
backdrop has a subtle and beautiful BRUSHED STEEL finish effect.
The hands
and raised hour batons are matching in a lovely mix of GOLD and BLACK lines.
The Case
The case is SOLID 9 CARAT GOLD and was assayed in 1970. IT is extremely SLIM at a mere 4.5mms in depth! Inside we have the magic hallmark MADE FOR ROLEX.
The most
inspiring and unique aspect to this stunning Rolex Tudor however is the
wonderful SUNBURST BEZEL which has been achieved through expert engine turned
craftsmanship. It adds an extra visual depth to the piece and marks this as the
quintessential luxury dress item that it is.
Measurements
It measures:
·
33mms across including the crown
·
31mms top to bottom not including the lugs
·
4.5mms deep
Movement
The movement is the TUDOR 2424 (ETA 2412) which is
gleaming and is currently in great working order, keeping
good time.
Please note however that vintage watches cannot be
guaranteed and it is always advisable to have them serviced at regular
intervals to protect your investment.
Cosmetic Condition
Cosmetically, there are few condition issues to consider. This only shows very light age commensurate wear
and has been well cared for. The dial is very clean and clear as is the
crystal. The case is equally in top notch condition with nothing of any
significance to report. Most importantly, please study the photos
and make your own assessment prior to bidding.
Strap
It comes on a BRAND NEW lovely quality 18mm Chestnut Brown
leather strap.
In short – a lovely vintage item – perfect for
everyday wear or special occasions. Don’t miss out!
Thank you for taking the time to look and HAPPY BUYING!

As these are pre-owned
items I can only tell you about what I know about them now so please take time
to read the listing and study the photographs. Vintage watches cannot be
guaranteed and it is always advisable to have them serviced at regular
intervals. They do not necessarily keep the accuracy of time expected with a
battery watch.

feel perfectly comfortable in emailing me and asking before you bid and before
the auction ends. I will always do my best to answer questions as fully and as

are final and the highest bidder pays.
Unless otherwise indicated we will let auctions run their full course to let
everybody have the chance to secure the sale.
