Brand new and unbuilt. Ref : PS720057 A superb quick build kit of the British Matilda Mk II CS which includes two vehicles in the box. At the outbreak of WWII only 2 Matilda Mk IIs were in service. However between 1940 and 1943, 2,987 were produced seeing service in both France and North Africa as well as some being sent to aid the Soviet Union which continued in service as late as 1944. Despite its small size, the heavy cast hull and side skirts served to make the tank look far bigger. Armed with the 2 pounder gun and a coaxial BESA, the Matilda was undergunned against the German Panzers although being well armoured fared reasonably well. In France in 1940, German 37mm anti tank rounds would bounce off the armour. As a result, the Germans were forced to press their 88m flak guns into an anti tank role to counter the Matildas. The CS or Close Support Matilda mounted a QF 3 inch (76mm) howitzer. These were typically supplied to HQ units and could fire both smoke and high explosive shells. These were widely deployed in Europe and in Asia by Australian forces.
These are fairly basic but well detailed kits which make them ideal for the novice, the wargamer or the modeller who enjoys playing with conversions. There are around 30 parts to each kit.
