Offered here is a memento from the California goldfields. Encased inside a 12KGF locket, this piece of native gold quartz slab, weighing 3 Grains (Troy) and measuring 9X5.5X1.5 mm was cut from a larger slab of high-grade gold ore. It's flat on both faces and shows gold on both sides. The 12KGF (gold-filled) coin-edged locket has two crystals (not glass). The locket itself measures 22 mm long from the top of the eye to the bottom. If you wished to substitute your own gold, the locket can be easily taken apart and put back together.

LIVING THE SIMPLE LIFE

Every summer along the Trinity River, Bobby and Anita worked the shoreline for gold.
With brooms, crevicing tools, gold pans, and not a care in the world, they sat on those hot rocks making subsistence wages. Bobby had a way of thumping his pan which made the small half-moon of fine gold magically separate from the black sands. Some of the cadre of big dredgers were doing much better production-wise, but with larger operations came king-size headaches. Many of us were content just to be living the simple life. After a hard day's work in the canyon, members of our mining fraternity would often get together to socialize. Naturally, I would bring my guitar for some moonlight serenades. Bobby's dog, a healer named Martin, relished my visits for, invariably, he would break out into song when the strumming started. Realizing his melodies were a little off, I would deduce what pitch he was howling and then sing a third or a fifth below that. When hounds howl, they all metamorphose into first tenors.

SEASON'S END

The good life's right there on my shoulders
With biscuits and beans in my roll.
On a pine needle bed by a creek full of stones,
Scraping out a living where bedrock was showing.
Thinking to myself,
"You're right where you belong."

from SEASON'S END by R.E. Ralph

From my perspective, even the failures were fun, not to mention educational. All gold mining properties promise the chance for adventure and, possibly, ounces if not pounds of gold. But a word to the wise -  "never count your nuggets before they're hatched." r.e.ralph

Thanks for checking out our store. May you find rich ground ahead.
