OTTMAR ZIEHER STAMP POSTCARD
No. 74--MONTENEGRO
( Not Embossed)

OTTMAR ZIEHER (1857-1924), a German Printer/Publisher started a "paper and envelope traders" business in Munich in 1880.  By 1889 he launched a "stationery" business which was followed, in 1892/93 by "Arts Publishing House".  After making contacts with various German artists of the period, his business evolved to include "Picture Postcards" of any kind.  Among his many cards was a rather large series, each depicting the stamps of different countries. These cards were all in color, some embossed, others not. Some had the stamps with printed postmarks, others not. Cards included both those divided (message & address) on the reverse and the earlier varieties with the cards not divided (just address lines). After his death (1924), the company was passed to the eldest son (Ottmar Zieher, Jr., 1883-1952). The company was dissolved in 1952 when the eldest son died.  STAMPS FEATURED are MONTENEGRO-1905 SERIES.
