17 Sept 80 BFPS 1717 40th Anniversary of RAF Swanton Morley Special Postmark and 5 Mar 1986 Biggin Hill RAF Post Office postmark on 2 x 8p definature stamps .40th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Cover with 40th Anniversary of Battle of Britain Miniature Sheet CS1 which depicts 87 Squadron Hurricane and 610 Squadron Spitfire in 1940, also RAF and Central Service Development Establishment ( RAF Swanton Morley ) badges. RAF Swanton Morley opened in 1939 and throughout WW11 was used by Bomber Command. Flown in De Havilland Mosquito T3 RR299 from British Aerospace Hawarden Airfield on Test Flight.
