Review from Customers

From tatsuko1976

Hello Minoru.

Here's my review for the vacuum tube amp.

The amp is quite easy to assemble. Even if you can't read Japanese, the pictures are sufficient enough to guide you through the assembly if you look closely at them to understand what needs to be done. For example, you just need to be careful to note the sections where you have to bend electrodes and make sure you use the correct screws (flanged or not) in the correct locations. Assembly is straightforward. The speaker parts don't fit together as nicely as I would like but it's acceptable. The sound is nice. Comparing the sound from the kit speakers versus the Bose ones I have, I feel the kit speakers make the sound more "live" in a way. I like to listen to jazz standards and big band on it. Just the feeling of nostalgia associated with vacuum tube amps and radios of the time when the great jazz performers were active makes the sound seem good. It may just be a feeling thing, but I like it. I think it would be cool to be able to modify it so it can run off an ac to dc converter in addition to batteries. I haven't used it long enough to know how long the two batteries actually last. If used for one hour each day, the batteries are theoretically supposed to last about 20 days. I listen to music for many more hours a day so I would be going through batteries very fast if I were to use this amp everyday. I am not electronically inclined so I don't know if such a modification will be simple, although I do think it is possible. Overall, I think this kit was a good buy.

So, how's that? Thanks again for the kit. I hope you get some more customers to buy this kit.

Best regards,
Tatsuko

Dear Sir,

As I promised You, I'm sending some pics of my Gakken projects.

I'm very satisfied about them, they both work very fine.

As You can see, I coupled my MP3 player on the tube amplifier.

I use it daily in my bedroom.

Greetings,
