Issue : UK STEREO ORIGINAL PRESS       Label : DECCA        Catalogue No : SKL 4955

Matrix : XZAL 8476-1K / 8477-2K

This UK Original press is on the earliest unboxed blue and silver Decca label. It is complete with the original heavy vinyl, the early 1K/2K matrix and rare earliest ‘patents pending' laminated gatefold Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve. Released in 1968, the album features Sympathy for the Devil, No Expectations, Parachute Woman, Street Fighting Man and Salt of the Earth.

The vinyl is in Very Good+ condition. It has a sensational high gloss, the grooves are still jet black and show little sign of age. There are just a couple of small marks and a few wispy hairlines. The unboxed blue and silver label is exceptionally bold and completely clean. The text is is sharp and there is only the very slightest spindle wear. It is complete with the original Decca company inner sleeve in Excellent condition.

The sound quality is Excellent. The vinyl lies completely flat on the turntable and the sound is exceptionally rich and clear. There is light background noise and there are a couple of clicks but this does little to spoil the enjoyment of this increasingly rare album. It plays through extremely well and can be enjoyed from start to finish.

The laminated gatefold Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. The laminate has the most sensational mirrored shine. The cream is bright, the text is sharp and the gold border is solid. There is light wear to the corners and the opening edge, with just a tiny split on the back. The inside of the gatefold is completely clean and the colours are vivid. The whole lightweight sleeve is solid and the spine is firm with clear text.
