This is a Simco Saddle in fairly good used condition.

This is a vintage saddle made with top quality materials and the kind of attention to detail that is hard to find in today's saddles. The leather has been well cared for and is in exceptional condition for it's age. It is fully hand-tooled with a smooth quilted seat. It includes all billets and a mohair string cinch. It weighs just under 23 lbs.

It has the Simco flower on the horn but I don't see any other labeling on it. The number on the back is 78. It is clearly an early saddle since the stirrups adjust with older buckles -- pre-Blevins buckles.

It has a 15.5" seat (measured to the cantle stitching), a 24" skirt, and the gullet measures 6-1/2" on the inside at the conchos (I've measured the gullet by using a flexible tape, measuring from the underside of the left concho, across to the underside of the concho on the right). I've also included pictures with a tape measure in place to give you an idea of gullet angle and height. It looks like SQHB to me.

This saddle has seen lots of use and shows wear with the expected scuffs and discolorations. The leather has split over the horn and part of the leather for the underside is missing, leaving the metal underneath visible. I notice some broken lacing when I peek under the back edge of the skirt on one side. Because of this, I would recommend having the saddle completely gone through by a saddle shop before you use it. I also notice loose rivets at the bottom of the fenders, where it loops to hold the stirrups (the loose rivets are on the inside, extra piece of leather that the stirrups rest on -- so not structural). The tree is solid and the fleece underside is showing wear but in good condition.

I tried to take pictures of all angles so you could really see what you're getting but please let me know if you need any other measurements or info.
