This 2008 video greatly improves on the current VASST video (created in 2007), which was a vast improvement on the current Elite video (created in 2006.) This video explores aspects of using the XH-A1 in depth. And because the instruction is programmed it constantly builds your knowledge to help you not only understand but remember the myriad of taping and still photo possiblities this camera has to offer. Let's face it, the XHA1 has so many possible setting combinations that it is daunting. This video is so good, that if you have to shoot a wedding or movie in few days, watching this will make you feel comfortable about your ability to use the camera. Neither of the other two videos can say that. |

Who is Dave Curran? For one thing he is the author of the bestselling Amazon short: How to Make a Low-Budget Digital Movie based on his experiences making the low budget feature film, KNAPTID: Four Days after the First Abduction. Although not everyone wants to make a movie this Amazon short has mostly remained in the top 100 out of 3,500 Amazon shorts since it's publication and even reached #3. Curran's short, THE MAILBOX, was the most watched video on THE LOT filmmaking competition website for the entire length of that FOX television show. Curran, who was invited to join MENSA based on his Graduate Record Exam scores, has been a longtime innovator as a teacher. For example, when (as a substitute) he taught an Advanced Algebra class for three months at one high school, every student in all his sections (about 120 students) but two got A's. (The other 2 got B's.) When the regular teacher got back, one student said to her, but we like the way Mr. Curran teaches. Curran, who has a masters in interpersonal communication as well as creative writing, believes teachers should approach teaching from the point of view of someone who has no knowledge the subject to start out with. That is, introduce a subject step-by-step remembering your own learning experience and how you made discoveries. He believes it is the teacher's responsiblity to make the subject understandable enough for everyone to understand it, and believes that if the teacher is good enough, everyone will. (As opposed to far to many teachers who think: This is the material, I understand it, the smart ones will get it and the others not as much.)
