A beautiful antique mother of pearl Abalone shell, and faux red coral beads long flapper necklace, which glistens and shimmers when it catches the light. The coral beads are actually dyed bone (bovine) but they look so realistic - just like REAL Red Coral! You wouldn't know the difference unless studying through a loupe. The abalone is a lovely milk chocolate colour with shimmering iridescence. The two contrasting colours of the brown and the red look lovely together.
There are a few natural imperfections of the abalone, with the odd nobbly bit, and a few small fleabites (see photographs) but these are smooth and you wouldn't notice them unless scrutinising, and there is nothing which detracts from its immense charm.
The necklace has been painstakingly hand-knotted, denoting quality. You just can't beat a hand-knotted necklace for strength and durability - and this has certainly stood the test of time.
There is no clasp, the necklace just goes on over the head, so is very easy to wear. It is fabulously long, making it very versatile, so that it can be worn in a number of ways.
