CONSTITUTION (American Export Lines)
Passenger liner built by Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Quincy, Massachussets, as Constitution for American Export Lines. Sister to Independence, she made her maiden voyage, New York to Mediterranean ports in 1951. In 1974 she went to the CY Tung Group, for both Atlantic Far East Lines and then American Hawaii Cruises as either Constitution or Oceanic Constitution. She sank, north of Hawaii, while under tow to the breakers in 1997.
