Here's another listing by
Lone Star Trains and Collectibles,
Your Classic Era Train Headquarters!
You are bidding on an interesting American Flyer Hudson steam engine from 1963. This one was the LAST of the great Flyer Hudsons that still used the original AC Gilbert design from the old days. Interestingly, the 21130 locomotive was paired with a PLASTIC tender.
Please take the time to read the whole description below before bidding. We took time in writing it for you. We look forward to any questions--we answer all emails.
THE ENGINE
The 4-6-4 Hudson steam engine carries the famous New York Central logo on the tender. There is NO ORIGINAL wrapper or cardboard wrap for this locomotive. The engine has some cosmetic handling wear such as paint rubs and some scratches. The numbering is still good. The handrails are original and show oxidation, as is usual for this item; I will leave that to you to clean should you so desire.
We tested the engine, and though it gets power, it does not run. I suspect a SHORT, so you will want to service, unless this will be a shelf piece.
This engine came in a few variations. THIS one:
- Uses the DIRECT WIRE connection between the engine and tender, the laster version of the engine
- Two position reverse
- Has ALUMINUM wheels (versus white-walled)
- SMALL numbers on cab
- Red glow of smoke in cab
- Smokes
- Headlight
THE TENDER
As issued, it is plastic. The NYC logo is sharp on it. The railings show some oxidation. It is missing one of the corner metal railings (easy to find repro or make and pop back in) and two tender steps.
This truly is one of the tougher and more interesting engines to find...do not let it get by and regret missing out.
PLEASE--for the Love of AC GILBERT--ask any questions you may have before bidding.
We have provided 24 supersizable pictures--take advantage of them and look at every detail before bidding.
Remember, this one is being sold AS IS and will be your project to service.
