Portrait of a 16th Century Gentleman, oil on panel

Antique - Northern European School - Renaissance/Medieval Style Hand Painted Frame

Fine antique Northern European School portrait of a 16th century King Henry VII oil on panel. Magnificent portrait of the gentleman probably Netherlandish painted with exceptional detail in the face head and upper attire. Some later over painting in the lower section. Date of origin is unknown, the composition originally comes from a work held in the Milwaukee Art Museum attributed to Jean Perreal (French 1455-1530) verso an inscription suggest it is after a Mabuse (an alias of Jan Gossaert 1478-1532) our opinion it that it is painted at a later date than the sitters period. In additional to the magnificent detail painting the frame has been gold based then painted with intricate roses, inscriptions and other renaissance symbolism.

Measurements: 16.5" x 13" framed
