Question: Isn't Italia & Sicilia just the 7th edition of Anzio?
Answer: Yes and No.
- The last published Anzio was the 4th edition by Avalon Hill in 1978. The 5th and 6th editions don't actually exist at all, as they were simply rule clarifications and terrain clarifications with some rule changes. A 6th edition Anzio Rule manual was prepared by Tom Oleson, and is available for download from BGG's Anzio page, however, it does not include any advanced game rules.
- The rules are totally revised although the format will remain the same. The latest edition, which could technically be considered a 7th edition Anzio, is unlike any of the previous iterations. The game begins months earlier than Anzio with the invasion of Sicilia. Furthermore, a number of scenarios have been added and a heretofore unpublished comprehensive advanced game of the entire Italia & Sicilia campaign has been added.
- The new, advanced campaign game represents the fulfillment of Tom’s many years of effort to make a great game of the Italian Campaign. The new, advanced campaign game is a masterpiece.
- Mark Simonitch produced two new game maps for Tom Oleson named Italia & Sicilia. The new maps do not have the terrain ambiguities found on the innovative 1968 Anzio map. Furthermore, the new maps add the island of Sicily and the rest of Italy - the 1968 Anzio map omits the toe and heel of Italy. The Italia & Sicilia maps are much more comprehensive than the 1968 Anzio map.

Please note (in the 7th photo) the full counter sheet has a horizontal distortion across the bottom row. This flaw was in the master so every set has this problem. Also the quality of the 6 Leader Counters for the Diadem Basic Game are of a lower quality than the other counters.
