These air plants are sent with their roots intact. You can clip them off if you want to , I find them healthier in the long term to leave them alone.

There is a lot of bad information on the internet on proper care for these. They can be VERY easy if you follow these instructions.

First, they are called air plants but they do need water. They are called air plants because they DO NOT get placed or grow in soil. The roots that are on them are used to attach themselves to trees, and whatever else they want to grow on. You can use the roots yourself in the same way. Tie some fishing line to the roots against a small log or some driftwood. Hot glue onto the roots not the plant. If you place them in soil they will rot.

These like Bright indirect light. If you place them in direct light they will dry out rather quickly. They can take shaded light well. They do very well with artificial lights but again beware of strong lighting to close as they will dry out.

The next care tip is water. They absorb their nutrients through their leaves as there isn't any soil . That means DO NOT USE DISTILEED WATER . They will look great for a while but you have to replenish their chemical needs . Rain water is best tap water is next. No distilled water. No R.O. water.

Watering . Mist them once or twice a week very briefly depending on how humid or dry it is where they are. Youll have to judge this yourself by the color. I would plan on giving them a good bath every other week. again this could be more or less with the humidity conditions. When you bathe them completely submerse them until the deep green color returns. Then remove them give them a little shake to remove any pools of water , place them on a towel and let them dry back out. You want them to dry back out the same day. This is vital to their health , they will turn to mush otherwise. NEVER water them in any way if they are wet still.
