Portrait of a Newfoundland Dog, 19th Century

circle of Edwin Henry LANDSEER (1802-1873)

Huge Fine 19th century portrait of a Newfoundland Dog, oil on canvas. Large scale stunning condition and quality portrait go a Newfoundland dog resting at the waters edge. Superb quality painting very similar to Landseer's famous work and from the same period but with important notable differences. It is possible it may be an alternative composition by Landseer. The detail of the head and coat are exquisite and emphasise by the dramatic treatment of light. Presented in a good antique gilt frame.
