MAGNIFICENT VINTAGE
LONG GOWN + ROBE PEIGNOIR SET
Size 34-ish - see notes below
I am delighted to offer this rare and very beautiful vintage peignoir set by legendary designer Elsa Schiaparelli, famous for her lavish designs and controversial lifestyle! It's in superb condition and would be perfect for your wedding night or other special occasion!
In white, the gown is made from soft, silky sheer nylon, and the matching robe is sheer, floaty chiffon, with embroidered organza lace trims and velvet ribbons in Elsa's trademark 'shocking' pink.
The gown is absolutely exquisite. It's a glamourous tailored style, with a fitted bodice - double layer nylon cut in a flattering low scoop at the back, and the front has an overlay of sheer organza with embroidered pink rosebuds and three bands of scalloped lace at the top and bottom.
There are velvet shoulder straps in pink (of course!) and the gown is carefully fitted to give a neat waist. The skirt is very full with a huge hemline sweep of 160" and the sheer silky nylon drapes perfectly, swirling sensuously around your legs as you move...
To match is a stylish peignoir robe, in totally sheer floaty chiffon. It's actually sleeveless but there is a big portrait collar in organza (with more lace and embroidered pink roses!) that forms a 'capelet', tapering to an elegant point at the back - see photos. The robe fastens at the top with a loop and button and there are long pink velvet ribbon ties that trail right down to the hem. It's very full and flowing with a fine hemline sweep of 124".
The robe makes a perfect dressing robe in its own right, though the two garments look superb when worn together - really impressive!
Size notes: the set is labelled '34' and the gown suits a larger 32 or 34-36" bust. You need to be slim to show it off though - the waist fits up to 29", better for a little less! The robe is a similar size though unfitted and can be worn open of course. Both pieces are 52" long, shoulder to hem.
The set is 'new' old stock and in excellent condition, with original pink embroidered Schiaparelli labels and laundered for freshness. I spied a tiny mark on the bodice and there are a couple of pinholes and a few minor picks in the chiffon from storage but apart from that, both garments look new! (Please see photos.)
I can't overstate how beautiful (and rare!) this set is - it looks absolutely amazing on, with real 'Old Hollywood' movie star styling - alluring, glamourous and totally feminine! Highly recommended.
