This antique textile is absolutely beautiful and in almost superb condition.I carefully washed it and it is as snowy white as photos portray
I am almost certain this is Victorian or perhaps Edwardian eiderdown coverlet that sat upon a the top of a double bed. Maybe layering a full lace bedspread that they used to dress their beds in those days
.It is the finest lawn linen with a border of Broderie anglais and cotton crochet lace and finished with a gorgeous frilly ruffle edged in lovely delicate lace. There is an embroidered monnagramme AC central at the top
To the open end there is eyelet oversewn slots on both sides.of the fabric front and back,so i am assuming the quilt was kept in with ribbons threaded through the slots as they are symmetrical please .see pics on enlarge
This could be used for anything else other than bedding as it displays beautifully as you can see by photos.very rarely do i come across such beautiful antique linens in this condition..
I am confident The avid linen collector wont be dissapointed when received as more beautiful in real life.
Size cover approx 45x50" plus frill slightly overhangs.
Please note the pic shown on the bed it is a shadow not marked
