Here is a vintage Erector set How to Make Em book from  1938.  
It shows what you can make with each kit up through kit  8 1/2. Also includes parts and a smaller "thumbnail" list of other models to make.
It is publication M1615.

CONDITION: There are rubs, marks, and general wear around the edges. Spine is a little soft.

We have provided supersizable pictures--take advantage of them and look at every detail before bidding.
