Here we have my Wolseley Six Automatic for sale.

This car has had a charmed life with very low mileage. The 'Six' was originally owned by Mr A J Cromwell, the owner of a British Leyland garage called Drove Garages Limited, of Drove Road, Weston Super Mare. He had started the business in the 1920's and retired in 1962, but treated himself to this car when new on 1st August, 1973, at a cost of £1606.73, after getting £263 discount!!

Mr Cromwell and his wife lived at Eva Lodge, Drove Road, Weston Super Mare, which may have been on the premises of his British Leyland dealership, or certainly very close by. Ownership stayed with Mr Cromwell until his death, and the car was then registered to his widow. There is the original Wolseley Passport to service book with stamped history from Drove Garage as follows:

PDI   July 1973
1000 mile first service carried out 10/9/73 at 745 miles
3000 mile service carried out 14/6/74 at 3754 miles
6000 mile service carried out 25/4/75 at 6080 miles
9000 mile service carried out  6/7/76 at 9530 miles
next service stamp is a service  carried out 12/6/84 at 17092 miles

The car was fully serviced at a local reliable garage on 29th July, 2010 at 25563 miles when it also had a new brake master cylinder fitted. The tax disc expires at the end of August, 2011.

In the folder for the car are loads of other invoices, and the original Petrol ration book issued to this car on 1st Dec, 1973, with no coupons ever used. I suppose if you are a garage owner, you didn't have any problem getting fuel from your own petrol station!

The MOT history is as follows, which confirms that the mileage today of only 25576 is totally genuine.

All the panels on the car are original, and as far as I can see, it has never been welded. I have walked underneath the car when it was being MOT'd and it is perfect with no rust underneath. The rear arches are perfect, (as in the photographs) . The car has had paintwork below the coachline all round, retaining the original black painted coachline. There is corrosion on the bottom of the two passenger side doors which will need attention to get the car to concours condtion. Chrome is all good, but the boot lid handle is pitted. I think you can purchase these from the Land Crab owner club. The interior is finished in a mustard colour with original good carpets. For anyone who knows about these cars, the nylon material used on the seats was not long lasting. The material goes baggy over the years, as you can see in the photo's, and the driver seat has a tear in it. The radio speaker grille on the top of the dash has also torn. All the wood dashboard is in excellent condition. The car has had 4 new tyres about a year ago, so all good. Two full sets of original keys come with the car too.

This car, with its detailed history file is surely unique. A solid car with rusting only on the doors (not part of the structute). Well worth getting back to pristine show condition, although it is not far off that now.

Cash on collection please. No swops. No timewasters.

Happy bidding
