The approximate dimensions of this hard drive are as follows:

Height 9.5 mm (0.37 inches.) , Width 70 mm (2.8 inches.), Depth 100 mm (3.9 inches.)

You will receive a new, recertified or manufacturer factory refurbished hard drive manufactured by either Fujitsu, Western Digital, Seagate, Hitachi, Samsung or MDT, or Toshiba

There are two types of hard drives for laptops

The first type is IDE ( This type of hard drive is also known as PATA , ATA (without the S at the beginning) and E-IDE.

This type of connector has two rows of small gold coloured pins

The second type of hard drive is SATA (This type of hard drive is also known as Serial-ATA).

This type of connector has two black coloured cartridge slot type connectors

Steps to establish which TYPE of hard drive as shown above will fit/work with your laptop

1) If there is an existing hard drive in your laptop you can check the connection and compare it to our images above of an IDE/PATA and of a SATA connector.  Please note that some laptops have a detachable/removable connector similar to ones shown below that needs to be detached as it may hide the gold coloured pin connectors underneath which are only found for IDE/PATA hard drives.

2) You can check the label of your current 2.5" laptop hard drive to see if there are any logos or references to the words "IDE, ATA, PATA or E-IDE and SATA"

3)You can check the model number of your current hard drive (you can do this by either checking the properties of the c: of your operating system) or you can physically check this by looking for the model number on the label of your actual hard drive. Once you have this information to hand, you can then type this into Google and if there are any references relating to the terms IDE, ATA, PATA or SATA.

Bear in mind that both types of hard drives are not compatible with each other so it is vital that you choose the correct type between IDE/PATA or SATA

If there is no hard drive in your laptop then you can:

1) Locate model number and/or brand of your laptop (both are usually displayed on the underside of your laptop and/or sometimes near the plastic screen cover/power button area. Once you have found this you can search for your laptop on the brand manufacturers website and locate the specification sheet which will tell you what type of hard drive you need. You may also find this information with any documentation you received with your laptop when you first purchased it.

2) Another method is to type your brand and model number of laptop into Google search and if there are any websites/links with phrases referring to your laptop using an IDE, ATA, PATA or SATA hard drive then you know which type of hard drive your laptop requires.

3) Check the hard drive controller of the motherboard in your laptop to view the connection (if accessible).

PAYMENT

POSTAGE / DELIVERY

Items are in the absolute majority of cases dispatched on the same day if an order is received before 3pm excluding weekends or bank holidays. We obtain a proof of posting for all items that we dispatch. Most items arrive on the next working day but please allow 3-5 working days for items to arrive especially during busy postal periods. Unless otherwise stated on our listings, we will only dispatch items to addresses within the United Kingdom (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales) and the Channel Islands as well as the Isle of Man.

If you have not received your item within 7 working days then please contact us. Please note that we do not usually offer collections unless this has been arranged beforehand. Please remember that we send our items through Royal Mail and pay them to deliver them on our behalf - we do not deliver them in person.

WARRANTY

Laptop hard drives come with a 30 day warranty unless otherwise specified (this starts from the day after your item has been dispatched). All serial numbers are recorded by us and must be provided by the buyer to validate warranty returns upon request.
