Extremely
rare, handwritten and illuminated antiphonal manuscript. Uniquely illustrated with many sewn in page tabs that begin each new song. Original folio binding 13.5" x 9" x 3.25", bound in the style of the 15th century, but the text and internal materials are clearly late 16th or early 17th century. Nevertheless, a wonderful and unique investment quality manuscript.
Exterior in full, blind stamped leather, with two handwritten paper labels on spine (Vesperale M.S.). Deeply embossed hand tooling on the covers and spine, large raised
bands and working clasps with silver attachments. Interior binding is tight and square with
mostly clean pages; some of the black ink in the later portion of the
book has begun to spread. Over 400 pages.Undated, but c1610-1625. Overall an excellent
condition one of a kind manuscript!
