What is Lactic Acid? Lactic Acid peels are alpha hydroxy acids derived from milk. These peels are more gentle on the skin than Glycolic and Salicylic peels. Lactic acid peels help to eliminate germs, toxins and dead cells on skin’s surface. They also help to rejuvenate skin by encouraging the shedding of old, sun-damaged surface skin cells. Stimulate new growth of skin and collagen for smoother and softer skin. 

What is Glycolic Acid? Glycolic acid is one of the naturally occurring fruit acids derived from sugar cane. The active ingredients of fruit acids when purified are called “Alpha Hydroxy Acids” (AHA). Glycolic Acid rejuvenates skin by encouraging the shedding of old, sun-damaged surface skin cells. It stimulates new growth of skin and collagen by decreasing the bond that holds dead skin cells on the surface. This allows dead cells to be removed gradually, leaving behind a layer of smoother and softer skin.   

The benefits of a glycolic lactic combination gel peel are:

1. Lactic acid penetrates the skin and helps to kill germs & bacteria. It also helps to reduce the bonds that hold dead skin cells to the skin. Glycolic acid works similarly in release dead skin cells, but since the molecular size for the glycolic acid is smaller, it is able to penetrate slightly deeper in the epidermis (reaches the dermis). The great thing about a combination peel is that you are able to target both the epidermis and the dermis. The lactic acid will work on the top layer and the glycolic acid in the deeper layers.

2. Since lactic acid is gentler on the skin than glycolic acid, after a combo gel treatment, you will not feel your skin as irritated as if you were to only use glycolic acid alone. In fact your skin should feel moisturized and fresh.

3. Lactic acid is a moisturizing skin brightener with little to no downtime. A lactic-glycolic acid combo peel will give you the deep exfoliating benefits of a glycolic peel with the moisturizing, firming, brightening benefits of a lactic peel.

4. You can use this combo peel as needed. We recommend 1-3 times a week or as needed. With pure glycolic peels, we recommend using only once a week.

Instructions: Apply a small amount over cleansed skin.Let it sit for 4 minutes. Rinse completely.  Use on alternating evenings or as needed.
