Up for bid is a rare find for any lover/collector of the Vectrex game system.  This is a genuine prototype for the Mail Plane game that was originally designed in 1983 while GCE was owned by the Milton Bradley Co. It is one of only a handful of such prototypes made and one of the few still working. I originally acquired it in 1983 from one of the Milton Bradley electronic game designers who is a close friend and wanted my children and I to test it for game play.

The Mail Plane game was never mass produced for sale before the Vectrex brand was discontinued. It requires a Vectrex light pen in the second controller port to operate (not included in this sale, but easily acquired through e-bay auctions). The original plastic cartridge is in fairly poor shape, but still works fine in the Vextrex console. However, the electronics are in great shape and the game plays as well as when it was first used in 1983.

The game play is a combination of flight simulator with typical Vectrex 1980s technology. The object is to load and deliver 5 packages to 5 specific state capitals within a certain time frame, avoiding clouds, lightning and storms before your fuel runs out. The trickiest part is landing the plane at each airstrip. My young children in the 1980s simply loved this game more than any other of the Vectrex line and by the time they had stopped playing it had memorized every state capital in the country.  It was a wonderful and addicting game for its time.

I've included several photos from the game play so you can see some of the features.  I accept only Paypal and will ship anywhere in the US only.  Good luck and thanks for looking.

I've received many inquiries on this listing and I thank you all for your interest. Many of you have requested additional pictures of the cartridge which I just added and are shown above. As you can see, there is a piece missing on the bottom; however, I assure you it does not affect the game's operation nor the valuable electronics inside and fits perfectly well in the vectrex console. I hope that addresses your concerns.
