The Jordan Brand has debuted the highly anticipated Air Jordan XI “Georgetown Hoyas” in a Low-Top version that’s still as smooth look as it’s original mid-top counterpart.
The Air Jordan XI Concord's, Bred's, and now the "Georgetown Hoyas" by far the most recognizable and popular Air Jordan signature footwear of all time and was designed by Nike’s legendary designer, Tinker Hatfield. When the Jordan XI launched, Michael Jordan had just retired from basketball and was playing minor league baseball, while grieving over his dad’s death during a robbery in Chicago. Tinker Hatfield designed the sneaker waiting for Jordan to hopefully make his comeback from his early age and premature retirement from the game he dominated. The Air Jordan XI sneakers were only samples in 1996 when Michael Jordan officially announced his to come back in the NBA. Hatfield and Nike originally discouraged Michael Jordan from playing in them, but once a production run were created, MJ didn’t hesitate to debut the most unique and game changing basketball footwear of all time. While debuting his latest signature Jordan XI basketball sneakers, the NBA was fining $5,000 Michael Jordan for violating the league dress code and not respecting the Bulls colorway policy rules by wearing the high-gloss patent leather kicks, as his teammates wore all black sneakers.
2015 marks the fourth consecutive year that Jordan Brand has released an AJ 11 Low during the second quarter of the year. This pair, known as the 'Hoyas' edition comes in an all-new grey mist, white and midnight navy colorway. They feature a grey-based mesh upper with navy blue accenting the patent leather, liner, insoles and stripe on the tongue. White laces and a full icy blue translucent outsole finish things off.
