Nannorrhops is a monotypic genus native to the deserts if Afganistan, Pakistan and Iran.  The Mazari Palm exists at altitudes of 5000' in generally barren habitats or arid grasslands and is extremely cold tolerant.  Nannorhops will succeed in full sun or light shade and will tolerate extreme heat and drought when established.  Good drainage is essential but abundant water will speed up growth considerably.
