Description:
VINTAGE GIRLS' MAGAZINE WITH DACHSHUND DOG COVER
POLLY PIGTAILS' FUN MAGAZINE FOR GIRLS (which eventually was renamed CALLING ALL GIRLS). When Polly Pigtails was originally published, it was the size of a comic book. In the Spring of 1953, the magazine was published quarterly (at first) and the format was changed to a digest size. In 1955, Polly Pigtails was published bimonthly. This issue is from February 1955, but is probably actually the Jan/Feb issue.
Great cover art showing Polly as an ice hockey goalie trying to prevent Finnegan, the dachshund player, with the puck in his mouth from running between her legs and scoring a goal. I think Polly is going to lose this confrontation. Cover by Barbara Briggs.
See above for condition info and be sure to have a look at the photos which include table of content pages.
I am listing 6 Polly Pigtails today, all with dachshund covers from 1953-1955, so please have a look at my other listings.
PHOTOS: Please be sure to look closely at my photos as they are an integral part of the description. My photos are often taken in bright natural light or sometimes with a flash, both of which tend to bleach out colors. Normallycolors are darker than photos show and light areas are glare from too bright light or flash. In this particular case, the gold embossed figures, text and fireplace inside the round border outlined in black, along with the bird feeding the chicks in the nest to the left of the angel, mother and childrenb/w are very bright gold and look much more vibrant than my photos show.
MY STORE: DEVITO'S BOOKS-TV CLOSEOUT JEWELRY (not much jewelry left). I stock all sorts of antique and vintage items (and some new ones)found here and there around New England since 1984. I never know what I'll be unearthing and listing next, so please bookmark my store, make me a favorite seller and receive automatic updates when new items are added. Ipost new listings every week.
SHIPPING: Depending on sales volume, I ship once or twice a week, Wednesday and Friday or Saturday. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I ship more often. Please disregard the 10-business-day shipping estimate. EBay made me choose one. Normally I ship between 2-to-4 days after payment posts. If it is going to be longer than that, I shall e-mail you.
POSTAGE & HANDLING: P&H includes exact postage (within1-to-2oz), plus a nominal handling fee to help with the expenses of doing business with eBay/PayPal.
FIRST CLASS LETTER RATE-FIRST CLASS PACKAGE RATE: If card(s) weigh(s) 3 oz or less, shipping will usually be by First Class Letter rate (unless cards are large, have rigid or fragile add-ons, such as old mica/glitter, or by request). First Class Package rate weight tops out at 13 ounces. Letter rate includes flexible, lightweight cardstock to protect the card and a USPS surcharge when "Do Not Bend" is written on the envelope. Package rate includes sturdy, rigid cardboard and that automaticallyturns a Letter rate card into a Package rate card, no matter the weight (up to 13 oz). Package rate for 1-3 oz is approximately 2-to-3 times Letter rate.
DELIVERY CONFIRMATION: Additionally, USPS does not allowDelivery Confirmation on theless-expensive Letter rate, but doesfor the Package rate which is automatically included in the shipping quote in each listing. If you want DC, please let me know and I shall reviseyour invoice to the Packagerate.
COMBO SHIPPING: I will be happy to combo ship, but must charge a modest handling fee for each item added to the package. EBay doesn't offer a fee discount on combo purchases so I must pass some of that expense on to the buyer. If you are purchasing more than one item from me, please wait for a revised invoice, as the automatic one that eBay sends shows full shipping foreach item, and not the discount combo pricing that I offer.
