When operating with the AC adapter base will light up and rotate at 1RPM, when operating on 2 AA batteries LED's will light up only -- but the base will not rotate. Great for all kinds of spheres, crystal mineral specimens, translucent pieces and other collectibles!!It has a mirror top with a Silver color base. It is a neat way to show your pieces.
