A nude eye with a shot of navy liner is the epitome of cool for summer and beyond. Bobbi Brown's latest palette is packed with eight skin tone-inspired shadows, including sparkle, shimmer and metallic shades, plus the perfect hue of inky blue (that doubles as an eyeliner). The shades come in a double-decker compact with a marbleized look in cobalt and black.

Shades include:

- Ivory: A creamy white.

- Cement: A grey beige.

- Blazing Star: A pale beige sparkle.

- Beige Shimmer Wash: A shimmery nude.

- Twilight Pink Metallic: A light golden pink.

- Naked: A warm nude.

- Slate: A medium grey.

- Rich Navy: A deep royal blue.

I can’t get enough of Bobbi Brown’s Navy & Nude Collection for Summer 2013. I love wearing the classic colour palette of neutrals and navy blue, and Bobbi Brown has captured a nautical summer perfectly in this small collection.

The star of the collection is the limited edition Navy & Nude Eye Palette. The super chic blue tortoiseshell compact opens up to reveal two tiers of eyeshadows. The shades included are:

  • Ivory – a creamy white (matte, permanent shade)
  • Cement – a grey beige (matte, permanent shade)
  • Blazing Star – a pale beige (sparkle, exclusive shade)
  • Beige – a light beige (shimmer, permanent shade)
  • Twilight Pink – a light golden pink (metallic, exclusive shade)
  • Naked – a warm nude (matte, exclusive shade)
  • Slate – a medium grey (matte, permanent shade)
  • Rich Navy – a deep royal blue (matte, permanent shade)

I admit I was stumped when I got this palette, asking “how the heck am I supposed to access the bottom tier with this packaging?” The answer is: it’s a pull out shelf, with a groove underneath the palette.

In terms of texture, all except the sparkle eyeshadow feel silky smooth to the touch and swatches smoothly. They are definitely sheer, and build up to a medium intensity. The sparkle eyeshadow is meant to be patted on to add a sparkly touch to the eyeshadows. These nude shades are meant to be sheer so they seamlessly and easily blend with one another, and this is probably not for everyone.

Having said all that, I think it’s a well-executed palette that’ll be perfect for sleepy weekday mornings when I can’t be bothered to take the time to blend my eyeshadows. I’d smudge the navy along my top lash line to complete a navy & nude look. Rich Navy, by the way, swatches drier than the rest, so I will do a look and give an update on its performance then.
