The Hillbilly Moon Explosion
‘With Monsters and Gods’

‘With Monsters and Gods’ is The Hillbilly Moon Explosion’s new album release and is certainly their best.
Who knew that rock’n’roll could still be so exhilarating … and musically diverse?

This UK edition has the band's preferred running order!
And the full-length 'Midnight Blues'...
Features Mark 'Sparky' Phillips of Demented Are Go on two tracks.

The Hillbilly Moon Explosion are a half-English 4-piece.  Hidden away in the unlikely habitat of Switzerland, they’ve honed their craft without distraction for many years.  Searching for the right sound they’ve previously recorded in San Diego, Camden and Tooting, but for this album they went back to the local Swiss studio where they made their early rockabilly albums, allowing more time to get it spot on.

The line-up is chanteuse Emanuela Hutter, Oliver Baroni on vocals and stand-up bass, Duncan James on guitar and Sylvain Petite on drums; With Monsters and Gods is also embellished by Oliver’s latent piano skills. The esteemed Pete Thomas provided saxophone, he also played live with the band alongside Martin Winning on horns and Geraint Watkins on keyboards on their recent European tour.

With Monsters and Gods was produced by Oliver Baroni as the band wanted “to reflect the somewhat harder edge you get from the months on the road.” and the result “is a louder, more rock’n’roll album.” The album concerns itself with “making friends with your demons”.  The title track deals with this and ‘deep love’, while the rest of the album warns what can happen if “you’re afraid of your demons and ignore them which might lead you to Depression and Desperation and constantly being Down on your Knees.”

Opening with psychedelia meets 50s sci-fi of In Space the following 13 songs are an aural treat firmly rooted in established musical styles (rockabilly, r’n’b etc.). However, with Emanuela’s vocals you get “this weird distinctly non-American approach to singing” creating a unique sound.

With contributions including Spark Phillips of Demented Are Go and mariachi horns courtesy of Calexico, a song that makes you want to start throwing stuff around to and another reimagining Blondie recording in the 50’s, you have a very special album from a band that is not only at ease with themselves but one that’s at its full creative tilt and in the ascendant.

The band are quite an online and vinyl phenomenon, boosted by the My Love For Evermore single, a duet with Spark Phillips.  Tattoos of My Love For Evermore have become a thing, with dozens of fans comparing photos on the band’s Facebook page.  At least 30 cover-versions add to the seven million of views of the song’s viral video on Youtube: https://youtu.be/2rlYPb2plaY?t=15s and the 7” vinyl sold out a remarkable seven pressings.

Much revered in France, they were recently hired to help resurrect the career of the film star and singer Arielle Dombasle.  She recorded with the band an album of Hillbilly Moon cover versions, out now as ‘French Kiss’ on Universal.

Last in the UK in 2013, they straddle genres with ease, playing divergent gigs such as the Jazz Café, the Punk Rebellion Festival, Boomtown Festival, and as guests of the Swiss national team at the London Olympics.  Their European tours embrace ten countries and this Spring they set out on the road again in support of this new album, hitting the UK in May: 6th: BELFAST Cathedral Quarter; 16th: LONDON Borderline.

PAYMENT

Paypal is smoothly integrated into ebay, and works well.
Paying by credit-card - if you don't have Paypal, you can still use credit-cards through PayPal.
Just DON’T LOG INTO AN ACCOUNT, and look for the button saying ‘Pay by credit-card’.
We also accept cheques from UK banks in Pounds Sterling, and UK Postal Orders. Checks in US Dollars from US banks can be accepted with a $3 surcharge.
PayPal ‘eCheque’ payments take a week longer to arrive, so expect a delay if you use that facility.  You can avoid eCheques by having a credit-card linked to your PayPal account.
Orders paid by any method outside the PayPal system will likely be subject to delays.

POSTAGE

The amount we charge is what we expect to pay plus approx 15-40p for packing materials.
There's NO such thing as 'free postage'!  We have to pay 20% VAT on top of the cost price, then ebay take commission (8-10%) - including on the postage AND on the VAT... then ebay ask you whether our postage charges are 'fair'.  We don't 'include postage', otherwise we can't offer reduced postage for multiple items...
MULTIPLE ITEMS POSTAGE
For multiple items, there will be automatic approximated reduction in postage costs of 50% of further items postage.  BUT make sure you first ADD THEM TO YOUR CART to order them together, not individually.  Depending on the weight of the items, this estimate may not be exact.
If you want and can wait for an accurate calculation then first put ALL the items into your basket, then go to 'Contact Seller'.  There, click on the 'Request total from seller' button.  We'll then recalculate your combined items postage and send you an invoice, but this may take a day or two.  The postage may or may not calculate as less.  (We're not sure if Ebay provides a 'shopping cart' or 'basket' in all territories; if this doesn't work then try again on the UK, www.ebay.co.uk site.)
DELIVERY TIME excludes weekends and Bank Holidays, which may be different in the UK from elsewhere.
Packets to overseas destinations (particularly Italy, Russia, South America) often take longer than advertised due to local customs delays.
OVERSEAS POST is by Royal Mail Air Mail Small Packet, for which there is NO TRACKING number.  Currently we don't regularly offer a 'signed for' or tracked service; but message us if your order is over £50 value and you'd like to add such a service.  WE ADVISE A SIGNED-FOR SERVICE FOR ALL BRAZIL ORDERS.
Please note, the date printed on our postage is a day or two after we print it, ie it’s the date it remains valid until with Royal Mail, not the date of posting.
PACKAGING: For vinyl we use sturdy card cruciforms, not envelopes, and if not shrinkwrapped we remove discs from sleeves, to avoid sleeve splits.  For CDs we use corrugated cardboard, not jiffy bags.

PROBLEM?
We want you to be really happy with your purchase.  If you’re not, or something’s gone wrong, please message us.  We will do our very best to resolve any problem.  If our item description isn’t quite right, or you think we’ve overcharged on postage, please LET US KNOW instead of 'opening a case' or marking down our ebay feedback.  If you have an order problem you’d like to resolve quickly, you can phone us on +44(0)208 537 3445.  Good manners are appreciated!

EBAY MESSAGING

It’ll help us deal with your query faster if you can include the order reference #number!  Please try not to 'open a case' unless you're seriously concerned.  Message us first; we always want you to be happy with the service you get.
Please remember, the ebay shop is not our main business so we may not always respond immediately; but we will get back to you.
