EX490's come with a 2.2 ghz celeron processor that handles today's workloads.  Couple that with Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Essentials and you have a very modern and capable version of the HP MediaSmart Server.

Very good cosmetic condition.  Comes with HP MediaSmart Server EX495, 2 GB Ram installed, and 3.75 TB of hard drives installed, and a power cord, and copies of Windows Home Server 2011, and Windows Server 2012 Essentials.

THE VALUE OF THE HARD DRIVES ALONE IS $300!!!

Disk 1:   Seagate Barracuda 7200.11  1.5 TB

Disk 2:   Western Digital Caviar Green 1.5 TB

Disk 3:   Seagate Barracuda 7200.11  750 GB

Disk 4:   BLANK

Disk 1, on the bottom, has the operating system installed already.  The others are either formatted or cleaned and you'll have to configure them once you set up your servrer domain, etc.

I use one of these in my own home and I love it.  I've had an HP MediaSmart Server for 7 years now.  I've used the original Windows Home Server OS and this new Server 2012 Essentials OS.  This is, hands down, fantastic.  It funs flawlessly and performs my essential tasks:  full backups each night on all pc's in the house, media server for my apple tv's and iPad's, file server for storage and fail safe backup, remote access to files and pc's through web connections.  All built into the software.

I've included MASSIVE storage totalling 3.75 TB of installed disks ready to take your files and protect them. I recommend Drivebender and iHome Server.  Very nice apps that plug right into the OS.

Windows Server 2012 Essentials is fully loaded.  You will have to unbox, plug into the network and power, and complete the setup of your Windows 2012 Essentials home domain with the remote connector software accessible from a windows or mac pc via any web browser (browse to http://hpmediasmart/connect to finalize the install) on a pc on your network.   If you are not comfortable with this process do not buy this auction. I am not providing any support at all for the final setup of your Windows Server 2012 Essentials domain.   FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE USB DRIVE, IN THE TXT FILE NAMED:  instructions_and_links.txt

I have never used the 2011 copy, it simply came with the batch of servers I bought a few years ago.  I have no idea if it works.  The server 2012 essentials software was just used to give this server a fresh install and all is in order.  I'm not sure why one would want 2011 anyway, but I want to be clear that I don't know the condition of that copy of software.

This is  a short Microsoft article about configuring Server 2012 Essentials on a "headless" install.  This server up for auction is at step 6 (except the key will not need to be entered as this was set in the USB setup files;  you will simply pick a domain name and machine name and proceed.)  I will include the USB stick with the windows software and the autounattend.xml files on it that were used to prepare this disk, along with a txt file that shows the setup address to use to complete the setup.    YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE SOME PROBLEM OR ISSUE, I HAVE ALREADY STARTED THIS PROCESS.
