This rare all hand stitched quilt is stunning and called Pine Burr. The quilt is gorgeous with such a colorful and unusual circular pattern.  Pine Burr Quilt, kas a pattern involving hundreds of tedious swatches that unfold in a breathtaking three-dimensional effect.

The Pine Burr Quilt was designated the official quilt of the State of Alabama by the Legislature on March 11, 1997. The pattern was published by the Kansas City Star in 1939, but the quilt method and design are much older than that.

This quilt was verbally appraised by a qualified quilt appraiser as being from the 50's to early 60's based on the type of fabric that is used and I have priced accordingly. The back is white cotton and trimmed in green edging.

I have counted the pieces as best I can. There are 29 circles within the pieces starting out at 62 and ending at 6. There are 869 of those and the sides have 202 pieces so if I've counted correctly that makes 1,071 pieces per square. There are 20, 18 x 18" squares so that would make 21,420.

It measures 73 by 82 and is quite heavy due to it's size and the number of fabric pieces.

I have no knowledge of it's history other than it was purchased at a Farm Sale in the Midwest several years ago by my Mother. It is in overall very good condition and has been in my possession for over 30 years and stored carefully and never used. There is one small hole as show in the picture due to the age of the fabric.

I'm not an expert so please read the description and view the pictures very carefully. Please ask questions prior to bidding. All sales final.

Insurance is included in the shipping cost.
