Herkimer quartz crystals are found and mined in and around Herkimer County, New York and the Mohawk River Valley. These quartz crystals were first officially dug and mined in the 18th Century. They are naturally so clear and contain these natural crisp facets, that they soon were nicknamed “diamonds”. Herkimer County, New York is located more or less in the central northern part of New York State, USA.
