  SLIM JIM ROLLUP ANTENNA

The Slim Jim is a great portable 'roll up' antenna. Add a loop of non conductive line such as fishing line to the top, and hang it from a tree branch. 

Designed for the 2 meter and 70cm ham bands. This antenna is a rollup style making it portable for all applications. It features heavy duty outdoor type 300 ohm twinlead., 16 feet of RG58U lead-in coax cable, PL259 male connector, and RF filter to help keep excess rf off the outside of the transmission line. 

SLIM JIM J POLE vs. THE STANDARD J POLE ANTENNA

The basic difference between a standard J Pole antenna and the Slim Jim J Pole antenna is the radiation pattern and the vertical angle of radiation. The standard J Pole antenna has about a 30 degree vertical angle of radiation while the modified J Pole called the Slim Jim's angle of radiation dips down towards the horizon an additional 9-10 degrees, giving the Slim Jim additional apparent gain over the J Pole antenna. An apparent gain of 6db is gained when the angle of radiation is pulled downwards towards the horizon and elongated. This gain is achieved when the antenna is properly fed and mounted. All antennas are sensitive to nearby objects including the ground. J Pole antennas should be installed at least two wavelengths above earth ground and six feet away from objects such as walls, trees, and especially metal objects.
