This is a lovely home sewn gown that I can only generally date to the 1950s. The first thing I noticed was the weight of the fabric. This satin is Heavy. Ball gown heavy. And the most beautiful color blue. Dress bodice is built on a corseted torso, with a boning stay on either side under arm. Both of these are coming out at the bottom and will be repaired before sold (probably tonight). Simple neckline front, with dress straps that have bra snap overs, and topped with a bow upon shoulder that should press out very nicely. Left side bow at waist is pinned up in photos, I can easily stitch it permanently if so desired. The left side bow sits atop bias cut satin for the most lovely silhouette. There is a lot of satin. The rest of the dress has a lace overlay with crystal like sequins all over the lace. Flawless lace without a tear or loose stitch anywhere. The condition of the satin is flawless also, though there is an area with 2 small spots that should clean out (photo last). The dress is not lined and therefore you can see the hand stitching from the inside. Hand stitched! All over. Original 16" metal zip up back, with hook & eye at waist And at top. Plenty of room under there for a tulle petticoat.
