Vintage Canadian Army Toronto Scottish Regiment Cap Badge White Metal

Please note that the photographs may show the badge, or parts of it, as being larger than in reality.

The regiment dates from 1915 and is still in existence today. It is part of Canada's Reserve Forces and is an infantry regiment.

The badge is in a white metal. All the details to the front are in raised relief. There is a thistle outer border with an inner border carrying the regiment's motto: CARRY ON. To the centre of the badge there is a raised roundel which has battle honours to the roundel's border - BELGIUM FRANCE 1916-1919; the central roundel has a superimposed coroneted horse's head and the roundel is set on a bed of maple leaves. The roundel is itself superimposed on a St. Andrew's cross which has to the top and the bottom, the regiment's name: TORONTO SCOTTISH. The back has two longish lugs; there are no maker's marks. The badge measures approximately 65 mm by 63 mm at the extremities. The badge is not a lightweight, flimsy metal.

Each of the lugs is slightly bent off the vertical and one of them is twisted. The front has various bits of grime within the various crevices. The back has some light brown areas to the top of the back and there are various bits of old cleaning powder remnant to the back.
